IILT receives FETAC accreditation

Integrate Ireland Language and Training has become the first dedicated refugee andlanguage training centre to achieve a FETAC Quality Assurance Agreement under the new quality assurance guidelines established by FETAC. IILT was formally presented with a FETAC Quality Assurance Agreement parchment by the Minister of State at the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Mr. Tony Killeen TD, at a ceremony in Clontarf Castle, Dublin, on November 10th, 2005.IILT Poetry Competition 2005

We have a winner! Hazim (R1T) is the winner of the IILT Poetry Prize 2005 for his poem 'Wild'. Second Prize goes to Sophea (R2U) for her poem 'On being an animal', and Third Prize to Franscisco (R2U)for his work 'On not being afraid or ashamed of childhood'. There were over 30 entries to the competition, and the standard of the poems was very, very high. Congratulations to the winners, and well done to everyone who entered.IILT's Dave Lordan wins Patrick Kavanagh Award 2005

Dave Lordan, teacher and 'Poet in Residence' at IILT's Ballsbridge centre, has won the prestigious Patrick Kavanagh Award for his collection of poems 'The Boy in the Ring'.Irish Times Living Dublin Awards 2006 - IILT Highly Commended

At the Irish Times Living Dublin Awards 2006, held in the Westin Hotel on 20th January, IILT was awarded with a framed commendation from the Lord Mayor of Dublin and a cheque for €500 as a 'Highly Commended' participant from the Education sector.Worldwise - IILT celebrates Intercultural Week 2006

To mark Intercultural Week 2006 IILT are running 'Worldwise',a 3-day celebration of the different cultures in our Dublin centre from Tuesday March 21st to Thursday March 23rd. We have over 200 adult refugee students from more than 50 countries. The three days will include film screenings of documentaries, shorts and feature films nominated or provided by students, poetry readings of original work by students, and a Food Fair. The emphasis throughout is on sharing and exploring our diverse cultures. Former students regularly visit classes in the school for question and answer sessions with current students on what they did after IILT. These sessions are very popular and provide a real source of motivation and practical advice on careers and further education. Students write reports on these sessions and post them in our Former students talk about careers in Ireland section. IILT’s first FETAC awards ceremony took place in Trinity College Dublin on Thursday 13th April. Over a hundred students received their FETAC records of achievement from the Provost of Trinity College, John Hegarty. Awards were given in modules including Computer Literacy, Preparation for Work, and Personal Effectiveness. Present at the graduation ceremony were Ann Devlin of FETAC, Judy Howard of the Reception and Integration Agency, Sean MacGabhain and Paul Caffrey of the Department of Education and Science, and Professor David Little and Dr Barbara Lazenby Simpson of TCD and IILT.IILT Director and Teachers speak at VOX conference - Oslo, Norway, May 4th

Avtandil Motsonolidze (Georgia), a student in IILT, will hold an exhibition of 26 new works including oils, acrylics, watercolours, and other media in the Law Library, 145 Church St, Dublin 7 from Friday 26th May to Friday 8th June. The exhibition will be opened by Alice Leahy, Director and co- founder of Trust.
